This site’s background design:  the mottled brown background that you see throughout most of the pages here is a close-up photograph of dark, wavy marble striations.  The source of this marble is from the ancient panels which line the walls of Istanbul’s Hagia Sophia.  The Haghia Sophia spans over 1,500 years of history.  And the marble itself is known as Pavonazetto or Docimium, from what is now known as modern İscehisar, Turkey.
